Together with our Business Partners, we face at the tasks of the topic sustainability to transfer and implement the common concept into the supply chain. We coordinate our strategy and the resulting sustainability goals, measures and indicators with the sustainability division and develop customer-oriented solutions. Our ambition is to develop a transparent supply chain. Thereby risks throughout the value-added process gets minimized and thus we meet the requirements of our customers and stakeholders
Supplier Code of Conduct
In order to fulfil our own expectations as well as those of our customers, we at Schaeffler address international expectations on the subject of sustainability.
Furthermore, we also include our suppliers in this responsibility. For all new supplier relationships in the future, we therefore regard acknowledgment by the supplier of the Schaeffler Supplier Code of Conduct as a binding principle of a business relationship. For existing business relationships, we require agreement in the framework of a (follow-on) request (Purchasing) to recognise our Supplier Code of Conduct. The supplier can only countermand this by means of a rejection in writing. We wish to point out that, in this case, a purchasing decision will be made and that this may have a negative influence on the supplier evaluation.
Conflict Minerals Policy
The Schaeffler Group has the aspiration to itself and its suppliers that all Schaeffler products are free of conflict minerals, sourced from entities, which directly or indirectly finance conflicts in countries or originate from mining operations in conflict-affected and high-risk areas.
While Schaeffler does not directly purchase those minerals from any source, it is aware of the possibility that conflict minerals may be part of the supply chain. ln recognition of this, Schaeffler’s goal is to source these minerals responsibly by integrating the “OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict Affected and High Risk Areas” in its group processes.
Environmental Protection and Work Safety
Environmental protection and work safety are fundamental parts of the Schaeffler Group's management principles. These requirements are valid for its suppliers similarly. In the table below you will find the binding standards regarding "prohibited substances” for production material suppliers of the Schaeffler Group.
